Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark is currently seeking a full time Cook to work at its St. Lucy's Shelter located in Jersey City, NJ.
Job Duties:
- Plan weekly menu of nutritious meals and food for residents
- Order food and supplies within the limits of the given budget
- Prepare food, cook and serve meals to residents
- Ensure staff has access to food or pre-cooked meals
- Ensure all needed kitchen equipment and cooking utensils are available, maintained, and properly cleaned
- Monitor and oversee food safety, including storage at proper temperature and attention to expiration dates
- Maintain cleanliness of all cooking supplies, utensils, kitchen area, dining area, and pantry.
- Maintain safety, including stove use, sharp utensils, and heavy items such as large pots and pans
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- 2 to 3 years related experience
- Certificate of Food Handling and Safety from the New Jersey Department of Agriculture
