Salary: $55,000–$65,000 annually
Mount Carmel Guild Academy is seeking a creative and compassionate Teacher of Art to provide engaging art instruction to students in grades Pre-K–12 within a private special education school setting. The Teacher of Art will introduce students to artistic techniques such as painting, sketching, design, and sculpture while encouraging creativity, self-expression, and the development of fine and gross motor skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver engaging, age-appropriate art lessons and activities
- Demonstrate artistic methods, techniques, and procedures
- Support students’ creativity, confidence, and self-expression
- Develop activities that strengthen fine and gross motor skills
- Contribute appropriate information to students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Maintain accurate records and inventory of art supplies
- Use the school-wide behavior management system to address student needs consistently
- Communicate effectively with students, families, child study teams, and school staff
- Provide classroom coverage when needed
- Perform other duties assigned by the Principal
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Valid New Jersey Department of Education Teacher of Art certification required
- Zero to one year of teaching experience required
- Experience working with students with special needs is a plus
